It's French Canadian and called Pate Chinois, which translates to Chinese Pie. It's a little twist on shepherd's pie but it's simple, delicious and sticks to your ribs on a cold, wintry night!   1. Put water on to boil for sweet potatoes. They will need to boil for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. While the sweet potatoes are cooking, brown meat with salt, pepper, and horseradish. Do NOT drain grease.
  3. Once the meat is browned add in enough all purpose flour to soak up the grease, add in can of beefy mushroom soup and mixed veggies. Add more salt and ground black pepper, especially salt.
  4. When the sweet potatoes are done, drain and put in mixing bowl. Add butter, milk, salt, pepper and ginger and mix. Once mixed add in sour cream and mix thoroughly.
  5. Place meat mixture into casserole dish, top with mashed sweet potatoes. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes, remove add Monterey cheese and bake until cheese is melted.
